I have noticed that more and more people are going to Instagram and then tweeting using links back. Anyone know why this shift is happening since Twitter has its own photo import options. Seems like all kinds of celebs and a lot of photogs have gone this route. Just curious.

My sisters begged me to make an Instagram so I did. I don’t really see the point of it, at least for me.
My feed is all selfies and people I know going to exotic places and faraway lands.
or art stuff and hipsters

My guess is that Instagram is built from the bottom up for photos specifically, and twitter is a microblogging platform with photo capability tacked on as an afterthought.

I don’t understand Twitter. Never have really used it just followed a few live tweeted court cases from around town. Never made a tweet

Instagram was a clever way to filter photos. You used to be able to embed them on twitter posts. So for a while there, Instagram was a cool add-on for Twitter.
Instagram matured into it’s own site with followers, hashtags, and social interaction.
Twitter decided not to imbed Instagram photos anymore.
Celebs (and others) have followers on instagram AND twitter, and now have to post to one, and link to the other.
Same with Facebook, YouTube, Tumblr, etc.. Savvy celbs find out a way to link them all together so nobody misses anything.
TL:DR They do it so they don’t alienate their followers on other sites.

Yeah, I think one of the bigger mistakes Twitter made a couple of years ago was braking some of the bonds that had been established with different apps that enhanced its usefulness. They basically forced these companies to become direct competitors just to survive.

I use it to follow Motorsport news mostly. It provides fairly easy access to the European motoring press. Basically, it is where I get my F1 and WEC info.
I did use it to conduct an interesting experiment about three years ago.

I was surprised that I got as many responses as I did.
I also used it for our trip to Monza a couple of weeks to get restaurant recommendations from the NBCSN crew. Ended up bumping into Will Buxton and Jason Swales at a place that Jason recommended to us.

It used to be that Instagram photos would embed in Twitter as actual photos, but Twitter shut that down a while ago because Facebook bought Instagram. They didn’t want to make it easy to go to a competing social site. So now when people post am Instagram to Twitter, it shows as a link instead of a photo.

I love Instagram. So much better than Facebook or Twitter.
